Devlog #6 - Finishing up sprint 1


Arena(Environment)

Hey everyone! Here's a quick update on the arena battleground for Beetlefield Blast:

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Work-in-progress sneak peek of the new arena!

  • ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Visual style inspired by Mediterranean and North African architecture — sun-baked stone, bold forms, ancient vibes.

  • ๐ŸŒณ A pomegranate tree marks the heart of the arena — a symbol of life and power among the tribes. (Leaves still on the to-do list!)

  • ๐Ÿงฉ The environment is fully unwrapped and ready for texturing.

  • ๐ŸŽจ Next step: adding color, grit, and lore to bring it to life.

๐Ÿ’ก Thinking of calling it "The Oasis Ring"… not sure if the name will stick, but I kinda like it haha.  ๐Ÿ“ข Stay tuned — more arenas and development updates are on the way. ๐Ÿ•น๏ธ Once it's finished and textured, we'll be dropping it straight into the game for some intense beetle brawls!

โ—Ž Bumpers

- Added in bumpers.

- They will be used to divide the map up.

- They can keep the bomb from going straight into the goal from the beginning.

- Also made the arena itself bumper-y, making it so the bomb isn't constantly at the edges of the map.



โ—Ž Accelerated Time Zones

- In these zones the timer of the bomb ticks down faster (currently 2x).

- This gets rid of the bomb instantly scoring when hitting a goal post, but still keeping an extra incentive to get the bomb to for extra points.



โ—Ž Improved Character Selection

- The characters now animate and show light on selection.



โ—Ž Aim Assist

- Weapons and projectiles now slightly curve towards the target to make it easier and more intuitive to hit another player.



โ—Ž Ragdolls

- Ragdolls have been added into the game, no need to explain this one I think, it's just simply hilarious and adds more chaos to the game.



โ—Ž New models!

- A new bomb model has been added into the game.

- Two new weapon models have been added into the game: a palm hand melee weapon, and a rocket projectile weapon.



โ—Ž Podium

- A victory scene has been added that shows the top 3 players, as well as some stats about them during the game.

- Their team color is displayed by a light and with the color on their back, just as in the character selection scene.

- They play a victory animation.

- They currently display the amount of weapons they have picked up, the amount of times they touched the bomb and the amount of times they got stunned.



โ—Ž Weapon showcase

Rounding off the first Production Sprint with a tiny showcase of all the weapons available to our brawlers:



During the next Production Sprint these will receive a new paint job that will make them really shine inside our game, so please look forward to that!
